As the 2nd smallest state & with fewer than a million residents, Delaware has shown a big state effort to support a state park presence for all to experience. Here is what the state says:
The Division of Parks and Recreation operates and maintains 14 state parks and related preserves and greenways throughout Delaware totaling more than 20,000 acres….Our mission is to provide Delaware’s residents and visitors with safe and enjoyable recreational opportunities and open spaces, responsible stewardship of the lands and the cultural and natural resources that we have been entrusted to protect and manage and resource-based interpretive and educational services.
They stand ready to keep pace with the desire of residents to seek adventure in their own backyard.
